Omneya, Khan al-Khalili and Islamic Cairo (and golf!)
Before our trip to Egypt, Kuan hooked me up by email to his colleague, Omneya Noor.   Omneya turned out to be a kindred spirit and we found we had much in common.   Here we are in a bead store at the Khan al-Khalili Bazaar.   Did Omneya and I buy beads -- how silly of you to ask!   Tat, Tien, Dad, Lauren, Omneya, Ning and Kuan
This shop sold perfume oils and bottles
Notice the intricate woodwork above the store fronts .  Things to buy:  colorful glass perfume bottles and oils, statues and museum replicas, hand-woven Egyptian cotton scarves, spices, mother-of-pearl inlaid boxes, lamps, sheesha water pipes and pleasant smelling fruit-flavored tobacco, brassware, fez hats, rugs, papyrus paintings, beaded jewelry, cartouche jewelry with your name in hieroglyphics, belly dancing costumes, daggers, stuffed camel toys, and the usual tee shirts, postcards and magnets.  For everything, we had to haggle.  Note that for sale as well were non—Egyptian products made in China and in India.

Vacation should always include a round of golf!  Tien, Dad and Kuan played in the shadow of the Great Pyramids in Giza.  The Mena House Oberoi Resort was once a palace (beautiful and ornate) with several restaurants.  That evening we ate incredible Indian food with family and new friends.
