A native of San Francisco, I grew up a few blocks from Chinatown. Nowadays Southern California is my home. The eldest of first generation American-born Chinese ("ABC") parents, I have a proud awareness of my ethnic heritage. This appreciation permeates my home life and is the theme of personal collections, and frequently a starting point for creative endeavors.
Sewing has been the foundation of my work since childhood. My mother taught me to sew on her Elna machine. I find great satisfaction in construction with fabrics and, when challenges present themselves, triumph that comes with successes. I get bored easily and often look for new textile techniques. Discovery is continuous.
I share my life with Tien who radiates sunshine on gray days with creative spirit and who provides plenty of support (especially technical) in our household. Our Coppélia-cat is lovable and amusing too. I am blessed to have such companions.
